Collections and repayment plans

A customer owes MAD 12,000 and provides a MAD 3,000 cheque. The collector must identify the debt, track the payment and agree dates for the remainder.

Identify the debt

Review the customer's statement and reconcile open documents with receipts. Review supplier payables separately to keep incoming and outgoing funds distinct.

Track the cheque

Record payment method, reference and amount. Check bank clearance before treating the funds as available and record communications if a problem occurs.

Reschedule the balance

After clearance, MAD 9,000 remains. Three instalments of MAD 3,000 give the parties concrete dates to monitor. Present the plan, review acceptance and compare each receipt with the due instalment.
